Bike of the Month for March 2000

My Very Own 1975 Honda GL1000 Gold Wing

Yes, my very own 1975 Honda Gold Wing with a Corbin Gunfighter solo saddle, turned-down exhaust, and newly rebuilt carburetors. The bike runs so well now, it's like I'm on a completely new bike. What a comfortable seat. 300 mile days are a doddle. It handles better than I would have expected for such a large bike, and it's exceptionally smooth. When the Gold Wing first came out, the editors of Britian's Bike Magazine thoroughly trashed it for being more car than motorcycle. The specific editor who wrote that road test defended his opinion in a recent issue of Classic Bike magazine, saying it wasn't a proper motorcycle in 1975, and it's still not a proper motorcycle today. All I can do is laugh. It's just one more reason why the British motorcycle industry died.
